deWinter: Ali braucht niederländischen Schutz

Leon de Winter, der schon in seinem Die Welt-Blog regelmässig brandstiftet, agitiert im Spiegel Online mit Märchenstunde.

"Sie schrieb einen Bestseller, sie bekam einen Job beim American Enterprise Institute. Aber in Amerika fällt sie als Niederländerin nicht unter US-Schutzgesetze und Regelungen."..."Wieviel ist ihr Leben laut Minister Hirsch Balins Haushalt wert? Wie berechnet er das?"

"...und die Sieger sind die Extremisten, die sich über unser Unvermögen, dieser mutigen Frau Ruhe und Sicherheit zu bieten, lustig machen. Es ist zu teuer, verstehen Sie? Es ist zum Heulen."

Nein, es ist zum Lachen! Was für eine Farce... die Mutter Theresa der Islamhasser muss in den USA durch niederländische Personenschützer beschützt werden, einen Schutz den man ihr dort gar nicht gewährt. Und deWinter macht einen auf Moral. Wer mit dem AEI gemeinsame Sache macht...

Update: Habe mit Brenno DeWinter gesprochen, der ganz anderer Meinung ist. Sehr gut. Seiner Ansicht nach hat der niederländische Staat versagt.

Scribd vs. "buzzword"

Today in the news: Adobe buys Web word processor
Financial markets like the Ajax and Web2 stuff. So which company has bought no Web 2.0 Wordprocessor yet? Adobe's new toy is known as "buzzword".

You can save a document in the BuzzWord system, export it to Word or RTF, or print it. But you can't save to HTML nor, ironically, to Adobe's own PDF format.

Neulich sah ich in einem Kiosk die virale Schlagzeile: "Wir sind Weltmeisterin". DIE WELT jetzt ähnlich mit "Deutschland bleibt Weltmeisterin". Nun werden die Sprachschützer über die Verhunzung der Sprache heulen statt sich drüber zu freuen, was man alles machen kann. ""Wir sind(!) Weltmeisterin".

Google Kalender API

Eine kleine Meldung mit riesiger Bedeutung: Von Google gibt es jetzt auch ein API für Google Calendar. Mit seiner Unterstützung des iCal-Formates war Google schon immer sehr benutzbar.

Die Mitteilung ist insbesondere sinnvoll für Entwickler von Mash-up.

Französische Medienoffensive für Formatkonvergenz

Die Franzosen treten nun auch im Ausland in die Offensive für ihren Kompromissvorschlag bei den Office-Formaten:

Die offizielle französische Stelle für Normung AFNOR schlägt eine mögliche Konvergenz zwischen den Formaten ODF und OOXML vor. Auf eine Einführung eines Konvergenzverfahrens haben sich Experten des Normenausschusses der AFNOR Ende August geeinigt. Alle beteiligten Softwarehersteller, private Nutzer, Ämter, Behörden und Gebietskörperschaften stimmten für die Einführung einer Norm für Bürosoftware. ... Im Rahmen der Einführung eines Konvergenzverfahrens zwischen ISO/CEI 26300 und OOXML-Core, sieht AFNOR bereits zu Beginn eine gleichzeitige Revision von ISO/CEI 26300 und ISO/TS OOXML vor, um nach Ablauf des Konvergenzverfahrens eine einzige und universell gültige Normierung zu erhalten, deren Weiterentwicklung allein durch ISO und nicht wie bisher durch unterschiedlichste Interessensvertretungen festgelegt wird.

Auch Google wirft derweil seine Stimme in die Waagschale.

Super Idee von den Franzosen. Bieten den Deutschen Mitentscheidung über ihre Atomwaffen an.

Steinmeier entgegnete Sarkozy, Deutschland strebe den Besitz von Atomwaffen nicht an, deshalb sei es auch 1975 dem Atomwaffensperrvertrag beigetreten.

Das ist so ein bischen so, wie wenn Du einem Rollstuhlfahrer Schlittschuhe mitbringst.

BSI on OOXML

"While a certain number of errors is understandable in any large specification, the sheer volume of errors indicates that the specification has not been through a rigorous technical review before becoming an Ecma standard, and therefore may not be suitable for the [ISO] fast-track process."

BSI closed the doors and had an expert review of the standard. It is pretty difficult to win the case for the current specification on neutral expert ground.

OOXML @ ISO -- Craig Mundie 'quite enthused'

Craig Mundie:

We were actually quite enthused with the number of countries even at this stage in the balloting process who voted to approve the standardisation at the current level [..] So given all of that, we were actually quite positive about the fact that we came within literally a couple of countries of having the thing ratified even at this point.

Huh! Yes, he's right. No. Not really. No ratification. I wonder what he means with: We were actually quite enthused...

There are a lot of people who have raised a great many issues which we don't think have a lot of practical merit,... Many of the comments that were submitted had common threads and were put together by people who oppose this activity.

Muguet schreibt mir von einer neu gegründeten Gruppe im IGF Prozess. "WSIS Civil Society Working Group on Information Networks Governance", die den Eindruck erweckt irgendwas offizielles zu sein und genauso hochtrabend daherkommt:

"Within the overall framework of the implementation of the recommendations of the World Summit on the Information Society, it appears that political and ethical standards demand the formation of a Civil Society working group. The "Civil Society" must be clarified as a group of people sharing such core values as openness, transparency, public interest, diversity, inclusion and a sincere concern for sustainable development, in bridging the digital divide. "Civil Society" shall not be defined “subtractively” as a group of people who neither belong to the government nor business sectors. In this view, "Civil Society" must be differentiated from the "Internet Community", which is increasingly dominated by the technico-industrial complex that manages critical internet resources."

Halten wir fest:
- eine Gruppe wird gegründet, die so tut als ob sie wichtig wäre
- Gründungsanlass sind "ethische Standards"
- der Begriff der Zivilgesellschaft wird restriktiv redefiniert.
- linke Vorurteile gegen Internetnutzer, die zunehmed(!) vom "technisch-industriellen Komplex" dominiert seien.

Dekodierung:
- "zunehmend" - Verschärfungsjargon ohne jede empirische Evidenz
- "techno-industrial complex" - irgendwas, was uns nicht gefällt und was mit Technik zu tun hat, Drohkulisse zum Schattenfechten.
- Digitale Spaltung - UN-Behauptung einer Verschärfung der Kluft zwischen x und y durch technischen Fortschritt

Fragt sich ob es dann überhaupt gerichtsverwertbar ist und wieso es deutsche Behörden dulden, dass mit ihrem Wissen Telefonate aus Deutschland überwacht werden.

Allison Crowe and Social Web Media

One of my favourite singers is Allison Crowe, her voice is amazing and ethereal. Her piano skill … is just breath-taking. After hearing her in concert, I introduced her to the folks at Pandora and they must have liked her, but I think they added most of her collection at the time. In the meantime, she’s started a podcast and has a lot (maybe all) of her songs available on her site. Listen to them, you won’t be disappointed.

Allison Crowe is an extraordinary talent. Schnulz trifft Kunst! Art@music is when you sustain listening to Kitsch. She gets everything right. Great Artist. Also in the Web 2.0 (blame Tim O'Reilly who coined that phrase). Canada blognation makes some very good points. Crowe became a sample how internet social networks promote quality. Her website offers video and audio streams, lyrics, even sheets, she runs her own podcast, I am amazed.

The Web ensures that people get what they really want: German Kids and Naked News and Allison Crowe. I wonder why public television broadcast content is not legally provided by our public broadcasters. The web harvests it anyway. After all its paid and decays in the archives.
